  • What is the Spiritual-Bio-Psycho-Social Model of Pain Management?

Discover the transformative power of the Spiritual-Bio-Psycho-Social (SBPS) model of pain management, as detailed in "Psychedelics, Chronic Pain, & the Posturedelic Hypothesis,” and how our Chronic Pain Mushroom Retreats integrate psychedelics to address not only pain but also the spiritual dimension of suffering, offering a holistic approach to healing by reading our blog posts about this comprehensive, innovative model of pain management.

  • What is Posturedelic Therapy?

Posturedelic Therapy is a unique approach that combines posture therapy with psychedelics such as psilocybin and Xhanga to facilitate deep healing. It was created by Jon Clark, author of the book “Psychedelics, Chronic Pain, & the Posturedelic Hypothesis”

This technique aims to provide new traction on chronic pain by leveraging the ability of psychedelics to amplify the mind-body and rewire the brain.

Refer to our Posturedelic Therapy FAQ for more info.

  • What kinds of chronic pain is Posturedelic Therapy designed to treat?

Posturedelic Therapy can be used to target most forms of chronic pain in at least some way.

Most, but not all. Jon’s book is a great source for understanding the nuance needed for this discussion.

Our blog posts on the applications and contraindications of both posture therapy and Posturedelic Therapy are the next best things.

But ultimately, the best way to find out is to apply and have a conversation with us after we review your application.

  • What is Psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in certain species of mushrooms, often referred to as "magic mushrooms." When ingested, psilocybin is converted in the body to psilocin, which interacts with serotonin receptors in the brain to produce altered states of consciousness.

These effects can include visual and auditory hallucinations, changes in perception, and profound spiritual or emotional experiences.

Psilocybin has been studied for its potential therapeutic benefits in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain.

Refer to our Psilocybin FAQ for more info.

  • What is Xhanga?

Xhanga is a smokable plant medicine containing the psychedelic DMT, AKA “The Spirit Molecule,” as well as a certain kind of medicine known as an MAOI, which helps extend the effects of the DMT.

Posturedelic Ceremonies using Xhanga typically focus on restoring proper hip flexor function. Refer to our Xhanga FAQ for more info.

  • Do I have to do all activities?

Not at all. You’ll receive a schedule and can attend whichever activities sound best to you.

  • Am I sharing a room?

    No. Your room is yours.

However, we do offer $250 dollars off the price per person for double occupancy.

  • Do you have a shaman on site?

Yes. All medicine is administered by our indigenous shaman, Nirvana, who has safely conducted over 10,000 plant medicine ceremonies.

You are in good hands at Chronic Pain Mushroom Retreats. Read more about the importance of shamanism during Chronic Pain Mushroom Retreats on our blog.

  • How important is it that I follow my posture plan before the retreat?

Following your posture plan at least 4 days a week for at least 6 weeks before your retreat is the most important thing you can do to get the most out of your experience. Read our blog posts about why this is so important.

  • What else can I do to be as well-prepared as possible?

Reading Jon’s book will be the best way to understand Posturedelic Therapy and exactly what you will be trying to accomplish at the retreat.

We have also written some blog articles to help you prepare in other ways like what substances to avoid, diet recommendations, a packing list, travel tips, and more.

  • Are results guaranteed?

While the exact nature of your results cannot be guaranteed, what we can guarantee is that you’ll have the opportunity to try several powerful and innovative methods of pain relief that are impossible to find anywhere else in the world.

Please refer to the “What kind of results can I expect?” question for further details.

  • What kind of results can I expect?

We are absolutely not advertising miracle cures on cue. Reading through Jon’s book or the blog posts linked in previous FAQs makes it clear that individual results depend on a large number of variables. Chronic Pain Mushroom Retreats puts as many of those variable under your control as possible.

    Here’s how Jon puts it:

“It’s true that I have seen and experienced what seem to be quote-unquote ‘miracle cures’ during Posturedelic Ceremonies — if I didn’t see my own first ceremony that way, I wouldn’t have gone through all this work — but I know better than to even try to design a protocol to achieve such things. Any miracle cures are between you and your God.

Here’s what I expect to see: I have yet to facilitate a Posturedelic Ceremony for a well-prepared person that did not provide some kind of breakthrough or profound insight that enabled progress on a previously intractable problem.”

  • Do you help me integrate my Posturedelic Ceremonies?

Absolutely! Between each ceremony, and before you leave the retreat, our staff will develop a comprehensive integration plan with you.

A week or so before your retreat, you’ll gain lifetime access to our Posturedelic Integration Communities.

Besides the integration community itself and exclusive access to Live Q&As with Jon and the team, Elite Members receive perks like special rates on future retreats as well as any of our remote services. More perks will be added as the community matures.

But you’re not on your own after that. We will do our part to ensure you benefit for life from the lessons you learn here with the expectation you do your part applying those lifelong lessons!

  • Is alcohol allowed at the retreat?

Because this retreat includes the use of mind-altering substances, alcohol is not available nor is its use permitted privately for your safety.

Find more information about substance restrictions in our blog.
